Mediation is an essential part of Dispute Resolution and therefore we provide a quality mediation service at competitive prices. Wanda is a qualified solicitor and accredited mediator. Before training as a solicitor Wanda originally trained as an Electrical and Electronic Engineer, progressing to director level and working with some of the top blue chip companies in the UK. The combination of her business background and legal knowledge give Wanda a broad wealth of experience on which to draw enabling her to gain a better understanding of disputes. Her calm but firm manner makes her a popular choice of mediator. Her extensive knowledge and background in business coupled with a Masters degree in Employment Law, means she is also well placed to carry out workplace mediation. She can assist with:

Wanda started her career as an Electronic Engineer, deciding to change to law and attained a First Class Honours degree from University of Greenwich. She went on to complete her training contract with a Norwich firm, qualifying as a solicitor in 2003. Wanda specialises in litigation/dispute resolution, with a particular interest in professional negligence and commercial disputes. She has since attained an LLM in employment law and qualified as an accredited civil and commercial mediator. In her spare time Wanda enjoys spending time with her children, equestrian activities and dog walking, often combining all three. She also enjoys going to the gym.
Kristine Burton is an experienced Licensed Conveyancer in Serjeant and Son. Kristine prides herself on keeping her clients informed of every step of the process and will involve her clients in decision making. When working with clients, Kristine prefers face-to-face meetings so she can explain things clearly, and be there to answer questions where the nature of the conveyancing can sometimes require breaking down into plain English. She will also go out of her way to help with anything complicated. Kristine enjoys spending quality time with her family, socialising and going to music gigs. She is very friendly and approachable, and will do her best to take the stress out of your property transaction.
Jennifer joined the firm in November 2018 and works in the private client department and also provides advice on immigration. She is a dual qualified solicitor and U.S. lawyer. Before coming to the UK, Jennifer worked in the U.S. Department of Justice as an Attorney Advisor in the Executive Office for Immigration Review and later founded a legal consulting firm in Tampa, FL. Jennifer speaks German and studied abroad in both Germany and Austria. She holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence (with honors and a concentration in international and comparative law) from the University of Pittsburgh. Jennifer enjoys tennis, classical music, a strong cappuccino and exploring the UK countryside with her husband and three young sons.
Sue joined Serjeant & Son in August 2016. She started her career as a secretarial trainee for the electricity board in London and has many years of administrative experience from her previous employment for property developers, social services (mental health team), as an aircraft parts buyer and supplier, life and pensions administrator, and previous experience at a local solicitors.
Sue enjoys reading, socialising with friends and family, going to the cinema, travelling and gardening.
Kerr is a tenacious and accomplished commercial solicitor with three decades of knowledge and experience, some with Legal 500 firms, in the fields of Agricultural Law, Sale and Purchase of Businesses, Refinance, Sale and Purchase of Commercial Premises, Business leases, Landlord & Tenant, Site Acquisition , Property Development and most property related matters. He has a down to earth approach, always with the commercial objectives of the client in mind, understanding the need for developing long-standing business relationships and fostering a culture of trust.
Outside of work and family life, Kerr is a keen photographer and is a committee member of the Bury St. Edmunds Photographic Society, exhibiting his work in local exhibitions and in an occasional national exhibition. He likes nothing more than visiting remote places with his camera and just losing himself in the surrounds.
Helen joined the firm in April 2019 and works in the private client department. Helen graduated from the University of East Anglia where she obtained an upper second class (2:1) Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in Contemporary European Studies with German. Helen is an experienced linguist, speaking Dutch, German and French. She has studied in France and worked in both Germany and the Netherlands. Helen specialised in Learning and Development at The European Patent Office in The Hague before deciding to change direction and pursue a career in law. She completed her Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course with BPP University Law School. In her spare time Helen enjoys swimming, tennis and live music.
Beth joined Serjeant & Son in 2018. Beth has completed a Bachelor of Laws Honours LLB Degree attaining an upper second class (2:1) from University of Lincoln. She is currently studying for her LPC and Masters in Legal Practice at BPP University, London.
In her spare time she enjoys equestrian activities with her two horses.
Nina-Jane joined us in September 2020 and has worked in finance for over 24 years, with a broad experience across a number of industries including previous legal firms. Nina-Jane qualified with the Chartered Institute of Credit Management in 2001 and obtained national recognition for the highest results in Legal Proceedings and Insolvency. She later went on to study a BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance with Derby University obtaining a First Class and is currently studying a Msc in Strategic Management. Outside of work Nina-Jane enjoys spending time with her children, travelling, working out in the gym and walking, which has seen her travel the 94 miles along Hadrian’s Wall path from coast to coast.
LEGAL ASSISTANTS/ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF
Elgan is a German Shorthaired Pointer who joined Serjeants in January 2017, originally from Wales. His role is to welcome clients and occasionally chew files! At weekends he likes to visit country shows with his brother and take part in dog scurries and gun dog training.
Bailey is a Chihuahua cross Yorkie who joined the firm in May 2018, originally from East London.
His role is to ask everyone in the office for cuddles. At weekends he enjoys going to the beach followed by a nap by the fire.
